Benefits of Solar and Wind Energy

Solar and Wind energy are one of the most prominent renewable energy resources that are underutilised in India. Even though major awareness needs to be created regarding the benefits of these energy resources, it is undeniable that their presence is seen around the country.

Renewable Energy Source

It is projected that non-renewable sources of energy will deplete in next 50-100 years. The sun replenishes the wind constantly. As per the estimation by scientists, the sun will shine for next 6-7 Billion years. So as long as the sun is bright and shining there will be wind available at all the times. By definition renewable energy is known as clean energy because it does not emit any greenhouse gases, so the use of Wind and Solar energy is in cordial nature with the development of the world.

Inexhaustible

One of the major reason to adopt renewable source of energy is due to its inexhaustible nature. Renewable energy source like sun emits its rays on earth 24/7. There is plenty of availability of sun which can be converted into energy that we use. As the activity of sun facilitates the winds, it also helps in generation of wind energy. As long as there is the sun, there will be no lack of renewable energy that can be used.

Low operational cost

Although the cost of installation is high during the initial stages of the implementation, it gets significantly reduced once it is up and running. The operational cost is significantly low after implementing these installations. The daily maintenance of these installations help in reducing the cost even more and help in the longevity of them.

Minimal dependence on Non-renewable energy source

The traditional source of energy like fossil fuels have over the years made a dominant name in the households around the country. The awareness and investments in both Solar and Wind energy sector have helped in bridging the gap and reduce the dependence on Fossil fuels which are the major cause of global warming and dangerous greenhouse gases. The use of renewable source of energy like solar and wind will highly decrease the demand for petroleum and gas products.

Uplifting Rural Economy

The use of renewable source of energy gradually helps in developing the rural areas of a country. Most of the wind turbines are installed in the rural areas which provide electricity to the houses in those areas. Not just electricity, economic activities have sprung up in the areas due to small and medium scale industries making their presence felt. The growth of these industries not only benefits the rural areas but also increases the government’s tax base. The growth of renewable source of energy has facilitated in the creation of short and long-term green jobs in these areas. With growing development in the field of renewable energy, it is estimated that solar and wind energy can bring about 330,000 jobs in these areas including manufacturing, product design, construction, business development, operations and maintenance.

Reduction in Global Warming

Global warming is a man-made phenomenon. The rising developmental activities have over the years given rise to pollution which was a direct result of man-made activity. Over-dependence on fossil fuels like coal, gas, petrol and diesel has incredibly spiked the level of pollution in the environment. From rising temperatures to deforestation it is the direct result of man-made activities. The application of renewable energy sources like sun and wind energy will not only help in reducing the effects of global warming but will also help in managing the depleting energy resource.
